In the January/February 2020 issue of Warbirds International Magazine, pilot Chris Schaich of the CAF FM-2 Sponsor Group rocks his new Kevlar fixed-wing leather-wrapped helmet with Lightspeed Zulu-H Mod ANR while flying a refurbished Wildcat. Previously dressed in British markings, the plane was repainted in Navy for a more traditional aesthetic. The magazine shoot was the first official reveal of the Wildcat's new look. 

They set up the shoot with an SNJ-5 provided by the Commemorative Air Force in Mesa, flown by fellow CAF Wildcat pilot Mike Pfleger, while CAF Pilot Scott Germain sat behind him to photograph the event. They departed from Falcon Field in Mesa, Arizona to shoot over the waters of Lake Pleasant. 

"This would be my first time flying with the new leather-wrapped helmet I purchased from Flighthelmet.com while at EAA Airventure last year. The Wildcat is quite noisy as there are two short exhaust stacks only about 6 feet in front of the cockpit. My other helmet with CEP earbuds was just not cutting it and could be fatiguing on longer flights. The active noise canceling provided by the Lightspeed ear cups was an immediately noticeable improvement. We flew for about 1.5 hours in formation for the photoshoot and I was very happy with how the helmet performed right out of the box. It was comfortable with no hot spots and good audio (I had spent some time with Gerald getting the correct fit while ordering it at your booth in OSH). Scott, the photographer, was pleased with the authentic look it gave, versus a more modern-looking helmet. Since then, I have received many compliments on the helmet from other warbird pilots. In October, I flew the Wildcat from Phoenix to Dallas for the Wings Over Dallas airshow, which was about 12 hours of round-trip flying. Again, it was comfortable on the longer flights and I felt less auditory fatigue. I look forward to wearing it on our next big event when we head to DC for the Arsenal of Democracy fly over this spring." - Chris Schaich
