HGU-51/P Flight Helmet - Late 1970's
Used by F-111 crewmembers in the late 1970s, the HGU-51/P Chemical Defense helmet was designed to protect the wearer from various potential cold war environments. The EDU-2/P Nuclear Flash goggles were integrated into the helmet design, having their connectors and plugs built into the existing shell. The hose on the left ventilates the helmet and visor system, while the hose on the right provide oxygen to the mask for pressure demand breathing. Missing from this set is the clear visor and the neck skirt.  Note 1978 contract date.
